One of the best sites I have seen that appears to follow the Silo Website Structure is http://www.allaboutlawns.com

On each article page they link to every other article within that Silo. In one particular Silo that amounts to 35 articles each linking to each other.

Is this the recommend way of linking articles within a Silo and is there a (suggested) maximum of articles to include within a Silo. How many interlinking articles is too many ?

Im presuming that if you have a lot of articles on a particular subject you would create a Silo within a Silo. Correct ?

Hi

I'm not sure if linking all the articles within a silo together
is better than not linking them together.

My only concern is if you have a silo say about new balance shoes
then you'll have a high keyword density for new balance shoes
for that vertical silo.

The solution I think would be to use the model numbers of
the shoes as anchor text or some other anchor text so
new balance shoes density is not so high.

Plus I have an idea that if you link all the articles within a silo
together that makes the theme more obvious for the silo as Bruce
Clay says but I think that takes away from the relevance from
the single page, it is not as targeted with all those links.

The result is less targeted adsense ads and less eCPM,
I took off all the links and I just link each article within
a silo back to the landing page. My eCPM is higher.

There are other reasons this way is better, that is for
the Master Plan forum.

Hi,

I am using a sitesell.com website and their analyzer always checks that you don't include the main keyword for that page more than 2 times in a text link.

In case of allaboutlawns.com that is not happening. They link for example from a page - silo - lawn mower to many related articles which of course contain the keyword lawn mower in there.

It is actually quite hard to link to related article of a lawn mower and NOT include the keyword in there.

What is your opinion on this one?

Should we stick to what Ken Evoy recommends or maybe he is just going for a very safe way and making sure that a page does NOT look a like a spammy link farm?

The best rule to stick by, when in doubt, is to do what is natural... If it makes god sense to use the keyword as anchor text more than once, twice or three times then do it.

If you are trying to gain rank by doing it or it dosn't make sense... then don't do it.
