Hi, Charles,
OK, here's my first remaining question. It's not in your primer, but from a
reference you made somewhere on this site, I learned that Technorati has
a special link you can include in a blog post to have a Technorati tag
created when you ping that post to Technorati.
I never know that before. Should I just start adding it to all new blog posts
or should I go back and republish all prior blog posts adding that link? Or
would that be perceived as spam?
thanks, |

Technorati has a good tutorial on how to ping them. Refer to that for now until I have a chance to write a tutorial here.
http://www.technorati.com/developers/ping/
I hope this helps for now. I will cover this in more detail in the coming days.
All the best,

Hi, Charles,
Thanks, yet I can't wait to ask this follow up question.
I know that with Technorati tags you can link to either Technorati or
your own site, with the tag links.
I used Technorati at first, then thought, hey, I want people to go to
my site. And I'm also thinking that as long as I have the tag link in
my blog post and I ping Technorati, it will then create a tag in
Technorati. Which interested people can then click on and be taken
to my site.
Am I understanding correctly?
I ask, because I just realized I should check out which you're doing
with your tags, and I saw they link to Technorati. Is that because
your blog is already on this domain anyway?
My blog's on Blogger. Should I link to my own domain where I want
people to go, or to Technorati?
thanks, |

If the tag does not yet exist in Technorati then you will have to link to Technorati in your tag in order for them to create the new tag. If the tag already exists then you can link within your own blog and T will pick it up.
Even though you are running a Blooger blog there may be more helpful details in this tutorial: Tag and Ping Tutorial
Let me know if you need furhter clarification or if I'm misunderstanding your question.

Thanks, I don't recall reading that in Technorati's instructions. Let's see if I understand.
1. Post to my blog with a link to Technorati to create the tag.
2. Ping Technorati.
3. Next day, write a post to my blog with a link to my own website
with the identical tag, so interested people will be sent to my own
website when they click on the tag.
4. Ping Technorati.
OK? |

You got it. Or you could go to technorati physically and create the tag and never link away from your blog. |
