Hi All,
I was wondering if i want to build adsense revenue sites, should it go "a mile wide and an inch deep" or "an inch wide and a mile deep" ?
It seem that product sentric sites go a mile wide and 2 inch deep
Anybody can confirm this ?
Thanks

Hi Rento,
It really depends on what your keyword research dictates that you do. There is no right or wrong way to do this as much of silo design and structure is interpretive based on personal preference.
I usually let my keyword research dictate wether I should go a mile wide and an inch deep or an inch wide and a mile deep.
I hope this helps.

Hi Charles,
Thanks for replying. The problem is when you have too many *silo potential*, that's why I asked
Should I limit my silo to 3-5 silos or go very wide with only 1-2 bottom silo ?
Thanks again.

As long as you remain "in your theme" it does not really matter. The ultimate goal is to make the SEs recognize your theme. It can be accomplished either way.
One of the most complex things about silo-ing is the fact that it is made more complicated than it really is and people tend to become confused in their own thought processes.
If you have huge silo potential then do waht feels right naturally. Make a bunch of silos if you feel that the need is there. Silo-ing is very interprative. One person may see it completely different than you but the bottom line is to keep things "relevant".
Keep relevant topics within each silo. What is relevant should be determined by doing a tilde search on Goolge. See this tutorial for a refresher.: Keyword Research
Let Google determine if someting needs to have its own silo. If Google doesn't make sense then do what makes "human" sense.
I really want everyone to get a firm grasp on this.
Rento, if you would be so kind... give us an example of your delimma... The best teaching comes as a result of real world examples. If you don't mind please give me exact details of what you are fighting with and I will help to clear it up for everyones sake.
Thank you so much

Hi Charles,
Thanks for your explanation, I slowly *get it* by doing the site structure.
I will post my current project after my articles are done so you can review it.
Thanks again

The answer to your mile deep inch wide question is:
"Yes".
I agree with Charles that a direct dilemma is useful.
Be advised that I created the new "total market analysis" CPC and CPD" for the zoom analysis screen for this very purpose.
You can filter by an entire niche and its Silos and basically make a financial estimate based on keywords- how large the adsense market is for that theme.
On version 1.5 this can all appear on one screen with a single tally of the total cost per day and clicks per day for an entire theme:
http://www.themezoom.com/public_audios/ (please do not join Theme Zoom from this link- use Charles Link:
http://www.seo2020.com/seo-tools/keyword-research/themezoom.html
Charles and I are analysing this data now to come up with rules and guidlines on how to choose mile deep or inch wide based on total cost per click and clicks per day within a theme.
Where it gets wierd is when you drill down into niches-
The total CPC and CPD tends to get smaller-
However when you view each Zoom screen as a unique aspect of your theme- you have a very diversified adsense portfolio.
This is a HUGE topic and one which- have no doubt about it- can have more specific answers than we have been currently providing. (<---sheepishly) Again, because we have a surprise for you.
Why?
Because I have been waiting for version 1.5 so that it will be OH so much easier to explain everything I just said . . . as well as guidlines to drive mile wide inch deep mile deep inch wide decisions.
Rento, I would like you to participate in teh development of this sort of market research knowledge- so keep asking the right questions.
