Hello Alexandra,

I know who you are. There aren’t that many Russian Alexandras in Deep East Texas with a failed gym who volunteer at the senior center. My sister has been reading your walking dead column on that hospital website for about 10 months now. Sorry about your affliction and hope your few remaining years will be very happy and painless. Thanks for helping out so many people going through this same unfair fate and who all get to benefit from your love and strength. I can’t conceive, even if I was a woman, that I would be more interested in finding a second wife for my husband than worrying about my own mortality.

That said, let me answer part of your first question: Keyword Tools.

Charles uses Keyword Discovery, good choice.
Russell has his own tool/program for $97/mo. based on LSI, have not tried it yet.
I use Keyword Advantage and for PPC, I use Keyword Country. However, you can pay for Wordtracker, the choice for most of the ‘old’ timers, by the day.

And, this is what I do: I decide on a couple topics of interest for a new website much like Charles explains by going down the directories of DMOZ or eBay. I use Keyword Country for a brief view of monetizing possibilities (how many advertisers). Then I write down, for each topic, a list of keywords that comes to mind; I add to that other words from the Thesaurus; finally, I pay for a day of Wordtracker (they usually give you a little more than 24 hours). Learn to use it by using the free version and read their eye opening free library of materials. In a day, I run hundreds of all types of lists of keywords which are emailed to me. Then I enter these into Keyword Advantage.

After all of this, I come up with several main topics and many subtopics which, once grouped, will be the foundation of my webpages. Now, Keyword Country lets me know how best to finalize it all. From here, I decide which website to develop.

As to your other question as to what makes a good keyword, I will let Charles and Russell answer this for you. I am interested in their answer. However, I believe you will need to repost this question by itself into the Keywrod Research topic of the forum. This here Poll is only for topic ideas not for discussions.

Good luck,
Chuck

Ooops! I use Keyword Analyzer NOT Keyword Advantage. Sorry, must have been daydreaming.

Hi Charles,

Thanks for your work on the site. I like your no hype style.

It might be cool to have a list of ghostwrites, web designers etc or other pieces that could be hired out to complete the plan.

Thank you everyone for your comments here. They certainly help in giving me direction on where to go from here.

Please continue adding comments to this thread... It is a big help.

hi charles,

there have been 2 or 3 things that i wanted to ask people about/discuss but can't really see which section to post in.

this may be because the questions aren't necessarily related to the plan, but it would be good to have a section aside where we can ask things such as 'where does the traffic come from to my parked domains?'

great site though and i hope we can all push it forward without spoiling it.

Hello Charles and everyone.

I wanted to preface my learning topic request with what was meant to be a 'quick' appreciative comment about the SEO 20/20 List.

But, as is often the case with my emails and posts, the 'quick' appreciative comment grew into a multipage post too long to post here, so I posted it on my blog, here:

http://keedecemgero.com

instead! It is currently (18 November 2006) the latest entry.

Eventually, after explaining how I came to start studying Internet Marketing with the goal of setting up one or more successful online businesses as recently as July of this year, in my post anyone who skims it will see that I give Charles and the seo2020.com newsletter the distinction of being the internet marketing resource I have found most valuable, from over 50 newsletters I regularly receive from every quality internet marketer I have come across. As I explain, when I showed my nine year old daughter, Amy, the example of the short article on 'Golf' which Charles provides in his very clear free ebook, 'The Plan', she promptly sat at one of our computers and wrote a short article on her major enthusiasm, Dancing, complete with five keywords to link to articles on five major sub-categories. I always like to encourage all my children's talents and efforts - I have five - and so as a reward I registered the domains mydancing.net - her first choice, which happened to be still avaiilable - and amysarticles.co.uk, the latter because she decided she would like to write articles about her other interest, animals, too.

So here is a little girl, all of nine years of age, doing all the right things as suggested by Chris Knight, the editor of the top ranked ezine directory, EzineArticles.com. She is not trying to write about anything she thinks is popular, she is sticking to the two subjects in which, even at her young age, she has quite a lot of expertise. She and her sister have just come back from competing at a major national dance competition in Blackpool (we live in the UK), and she has been taking dance lessons at a professional studio in ballroom, latin, disco, street, rock and roll and ballet for several years. She has also been interested in animals since she was tiny, and knows a lot about them, watching lots and lots of documentaries on Animal Planet etc. So I thought I would let you know that seo2020 and the internet has its first nine year old professional article writer and dance correspondent. So now Charles, you can adverstise 'The Plan' as 'so easy a child could follow it - in fact, one is!' While I and the rest of us adults debate and pontificate about what we should write about, etc. a nine year old child is simple enough to just plonk herself down at the computer and bash out a short article, following your instructions exactly. She is not greedy, unlike many adults, so her first thought is not to fill her article and home pages with adsense and other money-making links before we have submitted her article to all the SEO friendly directories, as listed at vilesilencer.com. In fact, I also heard Chris Knight say that ezine publishers tend to favour the shorter article, so she should go far! Smile

I am currently preparing an eBay sales page for a business partner who is blind, and so needs some help in the visual design area, although it is incredible what he can do given that he has been blind from birth and that he is working in English like most of the Internet, although his first language is German. His name is Patrick Schuppe. When I have his sales page up and running I will post a link in whatever marketing or link board here is appropriate, if you tell me.

Doing this has led me to appreciate the value of 'Split Testing'. I would like to know if there is a way to split test different headlines for the eBay sales page I am making for Patrick. He tells me that we can put up to a hundred different ads for his product, with different headlines, etc. I guess we can then simply assess them by numbers of sales which is the most primitive form of split testing, I guess

If you or anyone else has any advice about any inexpensive split-testing software capable of testing multiple sales pages an eBay sales page with different titles, or links to any other respources on Split Testing sales pages, tltles, headlines and different article content, reading level versions, different colour schemes and layouts, etc., I would love to hear about them.

It seems to me that Split Testting may be the 'Holy Grail' required to build a successful Internet business, because it gives the facility to progressively increase sign ups, click-throughs, sales and other outcomes, by progressively improving your web and sales pages and titles, articles and headlines, so as to continually improve your results from them.

So I have decided that Split Testing is going to be my marketing speciality, and would be grateful for any tuition or links to learning resources or software about this you or anyone else can provide.

As in the case of my friends eBay sales pages though, split testing can only work, and sales can only be made, if there is traffic to a site or sales page. So in common with many of the other requests above, I would request information about improving targeted traffic to a site, especially methods which can produce such traffic quickly, in addition to the time-honoured method of article back links which I think is great.

Thanks,

Kee

Hi Kee,

Welcome to the forum and thank you for recognizing my effort to provide top quality information to my fellow webmasters.

It is quite impressive that your 9 year old daughter can follow the guidelines in The Plan to create a functional site.

Split testing is very important and I will try to cover it in future lessons here.

Best regards,

Charles
