I agree with you: 2 months!
But Directories may be good for the future? I mean that it will benefit you after some months? |

Hi,
Just want to share my 2 cents worth. About 3 months ago, I launched 2 websites and posted links in high PR blogs for EVERY page of my website. My website got listed in a week! I made about $20-30 from adsense in the next 4 weeks. (but my webpages disappeared from Google after 4 weeks. I'll explain why later)
Then I came across SEO20/20. I created another 2 websites and submited to 100 directories each. It took me close to 1 month to get listed in Google since the day I submited. 4 weeks later, I made about $10 from adsense from each site. Similarly, the webpages disappear from Google after 4 weeks.
Now, I'm not saying directory submission is not good, but submitting to high PR blogs for ALL your pages gives you a faster index for ALL pages and if you use the right anchor text, will boost your ranking in SEO.
As compared to directory submission, since you only submit your homepage, your other pages are not linked.
I'm not an expert. It's just my observation.
In long term, of course it's better to do both.
One more note. I find it superbly difficult to list in dmos, especially with a 5 page website like what charles has suggested. Anyone got any tips on that?
Ok, I promise to tell you why my webpages disappear from Google. It took me a month to find out the reason. What happen is Google will list the amount of your webpages depending on the number of incoming links you have. So for new websites, since there is little or no links, Google will not list all your pages except for the homepage.
Why are ALL my pages indexed in the first place? That's because Google has 2 types of spiders, one fast, one slow. THe fast one will detect webpages faster but pages that are detected will be removed in the next update if there isn't enough incoming links to support.
Again, I'm no expert here. What i write is what i learn from other experts but in layman's words. If anyone has any better ideas to add in, let me know. I'm learning too. :) |
