Hi Jeremy,
great site, thanks for letting us know about it.
I tend to get lost in the bigger sites such as cabelas.com, which are almost too big for me to get an idea of its layout.
This lawn site worked for me. Big enough while at the same time small enough for me to work with. While I had trouble imagining building a Cabelas, the lawn site is much more in my field of vision at the moment anyway.
Many thanks
Glenn |

Good job Jeremy.
They are doing much better for semi-general and specific terms.
This is a great example of a php silo site.
With a LITTLE work, they could double their traffic.
Take a look at "fake grass"
They are at the top of page 2 on a lot of semi-general terms.

A good example Rento!
They have a ton of theme bleeding going on. They could probably rank higer by using the rel="nofollow" tag on thier navigation menus within theme specific silos.
They also have links to articles that lead out of their silos to non-related silos and themes.
I don't beleive that this site "knows" that they are using silos nor do they know how to avoid theme bleedage (is that a word?).
They rank highly for a ton of good keywords as a result of their silo structure and backlinks but could rank higher with a few easy fixes.
Of note is the fact that they have some powerful backlinks that are contributing to their success as well.
They are listed in DMOZ
They have 2 listings in the Yahoo Directory
They have 172 .edu links / 3 .gov links / 12,200 other backlinks
No doubt a result of great content and an aggressive link building strategy.
They monetize with AdSense and paid advertising (that is relevant to each category).
Nice find... It is always fun analyzing different strategies.
