Anyone seen the product from Sean Wu at tagandping.com?
The marketing is compelling but I'm unsure if the hype is justfied. Anyone had any success using this method? |

From what I understand the product is in pre-launch and is due to release on June 2nd.
This is a familiar "build the hype" strategy. Give little clues about what it is without saying too much, then get a bunch of people on your mailing list to continue building the anticipation & then release the product for an explosion of sales.
I intend to teach the tag and ping strategy for free here and would appreciate any knowledge and input from any other experienced taggers, pingers, and bookmarkers to help this effort along.
I don't doubt that Wu's tutorial is good, but I doubt that he has any "secret" that he claims he has.
My free tutorial will show you how to get traffic and backlinks on demand just like his claims to do.
See Tag and Ping
Then see Social Bookmarking
Another installment in the tutorial here is due to release today sometime. |

What I would like to know is how is he claiming you can get "as many PR5 one way backlinks as you want?"
How does that work? Is it just that when you ping the blog directories your site appears at the top briefly, and thus the one way backlink from the (presumably) high PR blog directory? Does it last?
Surely it can't be this good. |

No it is not that good. There is the hype I've been talking about.
Some of the internal pages of the bookmarking sites do have pagerank that can be passed, but it is not 100% reliable.
Tag and ping and social bookmarking is great for getting free traffic and making interested people aware of your existence.
If you have good content other sites will link to you (giving you backlinks). The method that Wu suggests is too hyped up.
It is possible to stay near the top under certain less popular tags that do have pagerank and get PR passed to you, but it is not as easy as Wu suggests.
I am doing it right now. SEO2020 received over 1000 unique visitors yesterday under the tag "tag and ping" from me bookmarking at only 30 bookmark sites. The traffic is impressive using this method but I am not counting on backlinks that stick around long enough to have PR passed from the bookmark site to mine.
Some of the Tag and Ping "tag" pages within these bookmark sites have PR as high as 4 and because there isn't a ton of activity under that tag I may get some PR passed unless I get bumped down before the major search engines do their next crawl.
I'll keep everyone posted on my findings and I intend to do a full report on Wu's book when it is released.

Charles,
Everything you've said about Sean Wu's Tag and Ping is exactly right. It's overhyped and overpriced. I know this because I own a copy of it. Even though it hasn't been officially released yet, there's a hidden page from which you can purchase it. I bought it several days ago.
I can honestly say that there are no major secrets in it. As I read it I kept hoping to have an "ah hah!" moment but it never came. Most of the PR 5 backlinks Wu is talking about will only last for a few minutes.
I did find out about a little known but very good social bookmarking site that I hadn't heard of previously. I've never seen any other site mention this particular social bookmarking site and yet it has very high PR and the links don't contain rel="no follow". Plus, because so few people know about it, many of the tag pages are rarely updated, so you have a good chance of receiving PR from the links. If you want the name of the site just PM me.
Wu also overhyped the software and Wordpress plugin that come with the ebook. Both can be freely downloaded from other sites.
To anyone thinking of purchasing Sean Wu's ebook - if you blog on a regular basis, then you probably already know 70 to 100% of what's in it. |

Personally I'm a little bit disappointed with the endorsements of some major players of this product. Seems like a major sell out on their part. Of course, not the first time I've been disappointed by them.
Other's besides Bear have expressed dis-satisfaction with the product and the high price. Definitely not over-delivering on this one.
I think Sean is really over selling the high pr backlinks since most bookmark sites have made there linking not pass PR. And if they haven't yet they will be because they will be inundated with "Spammy" bookmarks. And of course there are a lot of people that are gullable enough to believe every word of Sean's sales pitch.
Thanks for the Free (or almost - bought the $14 product) information Charles. |

I agree with what you guys are saying. I have not read the book yet but have heard a lot more bad things about than good.
To see well known guys promote crap like this makes me mad. But in the long run it is only going to hurt them. People will start to trust them less and less. |

I have to agree. I managed to get my hands on a copy and am writing a full review for the SEO2020 Blog right now.
I will post an update here when the review is complete.

| Very well said Charles. The really sad part is that Sean's methods will probably ruin it for all of us - much like blog and ping... |
