Hi Charles
What I'd like to see would be more examples of real sites built using the plan (but to a larger extent than we've seen so far).
For example, having looked at the animated teeth website, I noticed there was one major difference between that site and what we're taught, and that is that every page had links (at the bottom) to the top page of each silo (which I didn't think we should do). I can see how it's a good example of a silo structure, but it doesn't match it exactly.
I'd like to be able to have a really good look at perhaps some smaller sites using a single silo or plan structure, as well as sites using a larger silo structure.
I think I'm a bit too analytical and like to do things exactly the right way and I'm afraid that I won't It's probably silly, but there you go...
I hope I'm making some sense here! I'm not a complete novice to building sites, and I feel pretty confident that I could build a site using the Plan and a siloing structure, but I also like to have it well spelled out for me, just in case I'm missing something, or to give me an idea of something I might have missed!
Cheers

Hi Fiona,
I second that request big time!
We could even take it a step further and have Charles and Russell (the Dynamic Duo), build a sample site with Camtasia video recordings showing us each step... from doing theme/keyword research with ThemeZoom, to picking a good domain name, to building the site page by page, link by link, writing the articles, submitting to the directories (or outsourcing this step), the steps to take once indexing has taken place, etc., etc. all according to "The Master Plan."
It would be like "The Master Plan" Live.
Best Regards,
JoeCool

Looks to me like JV time, guys. I agree on this. I have recently bought some Adsense sites that are very powerful, but have had to struggle with them because I have been unable to get the support I need. I have had to figure things out on my own, and I am definitely PHP challenged!
Regardless, it took me several months to figure out things on my own. Now, I am putting sites on very quickly - 7 tonight at last count. Had to take a break!
I use Camtasia to do videos for some of my colleagues to show them how I build their graphics for them (I run a graphics design site for several forums - on the cheap!) Some of the members of a particular forum struggle so much with graphics that I have done Camtasia videos for them to teach them general subjects. Lets get our heads together and go for it!
Peace,
Charlie~

Hi,
I have a feeling there are different ways and designs
for using silos. [linking structure]
Please map them out and explain why that particular
design is used.
Looking forward to the Master Plan.
Thank you,

Ditto for camtasia presentations and building a site from scratch. Im with Fiona as far as having to have the specific details in place, thats why I liked The Plan so much. I have put a couple of sites together and think I have it pretty well down, but I am sure there are things I could do better and more efficiently.
I find I really get stuff if its presented via Camtasia, the video tutorials you are doing Charles for the article section are a great help. Any video supplements to the Master Plan would be appreciated

It is ok to get really analytical.
About the links at the bottom of the page, even Bruce Clay said that he took calculated risks.
Yoiu will not bleed your theme that much.
Rule of thumb:
The real POWER is in the /SILO/article_name.html
Period.
I discovered a way to make Silos using Xsite pro. And if you can do it in THAT software, you can do it in ANY software.
In theory you could nest websites, within websites using this technique.
The Cabelas model is a good example of that.
Software . . . extremely powerful software . . . is being constructed. Ahem.

I emailed Paul Smithson (who created XSite Pro) asking him how best to create XSite Pro sites in a folder/directory Silo structure, and his reply was as follows:
==========================================
Hi John
In version 1 of XSitePro we wanted to keep everything as straight
forward as possible so that it could be used by the widest range of
users possible. However, for V2 we're definitely building in a
powerful range of folder options such as the ones you mention.
For example you could have all your images in an image folder, your
pdfs in a pdf folder, etc. Hopefully, you'll also be able to choose to
have subpages in folders that are named after the parent page. All of
this will be optional as we need to cater for everyone's needs, but we
need to make sure we implement this without over complicating
everything otherwise people will just get confused.
At the moment the only way to really do what you need to do is to
create each of your themed areas as separate sites and publish them to
different subfolders. Because of the way XSitePro works you can still
easily interlink between these different sites and you can also make
them all look the same by just copying the initial site to create all
of the extra ones.
Does that make sense John?
Let me know if I can be of any more help.
Best regards
Paul
==============================================
This should work just fine, and without too much extra effort either!
John. |

Virtual silos and directory silos as Charles has said
have equal ranking power, so not to worry.
This brings up a question Charles, could you explain
in the Master Plan what filenames to use if one wanted
to create a virtual silo.
Thanks,
Jeremy |

One more, I read in Bruce Clay's newsletter about
having at least 200 keywords as close to the top in one's
html.
Please explain this in the Master Plan, if this is part of it.
Thanks,

And another:
It would be very helpful to show an example 250 to 300
word article and highlight the primary keyword and the
keywords used to theme the article.
Plus which are the best article directories to submit
our articles to, ones which have a silo structure.
Should there be a section of our site called newest articles,
so past visitors can find our latest articles without having
to dig into our site again. How should this be set-up.
