First of all, I'd like to thank you for the absolutely wonderful, no-BS strategy you've shared with us. I've been there and done almost all that, page generators, blog farms, etc and am now looking forward to doing things the proper, white hat way.

A quick question, then. Do you feel it's better to create THE PLAN sites using simple tools such as Notepad and Frontpage, or can the sites do equally well with Wordpress (assuming we've switched on Permalinks, and done all the SEO stuff we're supposed to do with Wordpress)

Thanks!

Hi dlcmh & welcome Very Happy

Wordpress is a great tool that you can modify to build your sites with. Turn off all ping servies initially. Once you are indexed then you can turn them back on. It is a great automatic way to inform the SEs that you have updated your content when you add a new page.

You don't want to come out of the gate by pinging a new site. You want to get indexed first and then start pinging.

Turn off pinging services until you are indexed and then tuen them on. Blog and ping is getting such a bad rap in the search engines that it is best to let the search engines index you first before blog and ping to ensure that no red flags are raised.

Word press is fine.

Semiologic pro has some fantastic keyword and seo tools built right into the program. It is a wordpress add-on.

The creator, Denis, has done a fabulous job of creating an seo friendly tool. His work is definitely endoresed by themezoom.

A sample of the semiologic template recommended by Sherman Hu at http://www.wordpresstutorials.com is my own. http://www.theme-zoom.com

I have sopme work to do on it, but it is really kewl.

Russell,

Please take a moment and read my post below to Charles about using WordPress instead of FrontPage or XSitePro to build websites according to "The Plan" (and eventually according to "The Master Plan") that have the look and feel of a static html site.

What is your opinion and/or recommendations on building sites with WordPress (possibly coupled with Semiologic Pro) using the method laid out in "The Plan?" With WordPress I can build and put them up much faster.

I have hundreds of sites that I can build right now using the methods Charles and you are teaching us and I want to start off on the right foot and not waste any time going back and rebuilding using static html site building software.

It would be really cool if someone could design a WordPress theme that has all the necessary infrastructure and ingredients of "The Plan" along with SEO built right in from the start. I would sure pay good money for that!

Russell, I appreciate your time and any comments you may have.

Best Regards,
JoeCool Cool

Charles, I have read "The Plan" and am in the research phase of putting together several sites. What I would like to see us explore here is a comparison of building content sites with an html static site builder such as FrontPage or XSitePro versus custom themed WordPress blogs with a home page (and infrastructure) that has the look and feel of a traditional static site.

Do you think you could you do an adaptation of "The Plan" for building sites with WordPress blogs sometime in the near future? Not wanting to spend tons of money AND time on html site building software and then going through the steep learning curve of the various programs I feel would be beneficial to us all.

My feeling is, and has been, that as the internet and computers evolve, the task of site building itself will get easier and easier along with the software that will become available. WordPress looks like a move in that direction and being open source makes it even better... no board of directors with a focus on the bottom line to worry about! You've been around the internet a few more years than I have (10 years for me), so I would love to know what your thoughts are on the platform we should take for building our content sites... static sites or blogs that look like static sites?

Hi
Well here is my 2pence worth....

Im building sites with Xsitepro and RNW.... I have worked with dreamweaver for years but dont feel its designed for this type of market.

I've built a few sites now with Xsitepro and find that SE seem to like the pages it churns out.

However I built a site using RNW which actually uses wordpress, I found it a doddle to use. Anyways I had an old domain that I've owned for a while so I uploaded the RNW/wordpress site to it.

I have promoted it using the PLAN and nothing else. In less than 2 weeks it as become a PR2 in google and all 5 articles have some number 1 positions in MSN and Yahoo

So I guess I'm taking a long time to say in my experience the PLan works with wordpress but it also works well using Xsitepro

I have a Wordpress (Rapid Niche Website) site with ONE article that I never intended to even be indexed. I have literally done NOTHING with it other than post that one article. I even turned off pinging. It is now indexed in Google after about three weeks. I have no idea how Google found it.
