There appears to be two directory submission software programs available: (1) Link Directory Submitter - currently $97 but price will increase when new version is released and (2) SubmitEaze - $49. I would be grateful if anyone could provide feedback on either of these applications. I would particularly like to know whether Link Directory Submitter has superior features considering it is more expensive.

Many thanks.

Kind regards,

If you like to try before you buy, both have a trial version. I kind of like the interface more in Link Directory Submitter, but SubmitEaze is good because you can add directories to the site, and you can also suggest directories for inclusion (to the programmer), and I noticed that they DON'T accept directories that have to be paid for (although one of the trial directories did, which was odd - but it could be that that directory had changed its policies).

So, I'm probably going to buy SubmitEaze. 1. because of the cost and 2. because you can add new directories (which will take time, but I think will ultimately be worth it).

Oh, one more thing - Link Directory submitter allows you to put in more descriptions for each website you're submitting, and rotates them between submissions (also title text) so the directories will actually be getting different descriptions etc. (I know Charles recommends that you use different descriptions, titles etc.)

However, with SubmitEase you could do this, but it wouldn't be automatic (you'd just have to set up different profiles for each website and then submit one to a few directories, another to the next few etc.)

I also think Link Directory Submitter currently has more directories actually programmed into the system.

Anyway, try them both out and see what you think!

Cheers
Fiona

Hi Fiona,

Thanks very much for your comments about the two types of directory submission software. I will download the trial versions of each and then make a decision. I greatly appreciate your help.

Kind regards,

Fiona,

Nice post. This was precisely the question I logged onto the forum today to get an answer to. It always pays to see if it has been asked and answered.

I have downloaded and previewed the trial versions of both Directory Submitter and SubmitEaze, and thought that I would share my initial impressions.

What both programs have in common is that you can set up a profile for each of your websites. They both accept similar information in similar fashions, although Directory Submitter allows you to include alternative site names and descriptions that will be rotated as you submit to each directory.

Each program also takes you to the site submission page of each directory. Directory Submitter will automatically complete the form, without your prompting or intervention. You simply need to verify that the form is fully completed, which it typically is with the exception of selecting a category. SubmitEaze requires that you click an "AutoComplete" button to fill in the submission form, then the process is similar to Directory Submitter.

Directory Submitter automatically keeps track of which directories to which you have submitted your site information. SubmitEaze requires that you right click on each directory and update the status, but includes not just a "submitted" status but further follow-up. The idea is that once you receive confirmation that your site was added to a directory, rejected, etc., that you go back into the software, find the directory, and then right click to update the status.

The one other feature SubmitEaze offers that is not presently available with Directory Submitter is that capacity to add your own directories. If a directory to which you want to submit is not listed in SubmitEaze, you can add it as a "Custom Directory."

Generally, I prefer Directory Submitter despite the fact it costs more. But for a one-time cost of $50 the added automation will probably be enough for me to justify the added expense. The two features that I noted SubmitEaze offers over Directory Submitter, the ability to track the status of your submissions and the ability to add your own directories, may be important for some folks. I know that I don't have the time or patience to keep track over the long-term of which directories accept or reject. On occassion, I suppose that I might want to add a directory but with the number of directories available on Directory Submitter it's not compelling to me. The automation is compelling and Directory Submitter has gone the extra distance to eliminate a few clicks, which over the course of submitting to hundreds of directories will add up quickly. This is especially true if you intend to create numerous sites and submit each to a variety of directories.

It did not take much time to download and test drive either demo version, so my advice is that you take a few hours and see which appeals most to you. At $97 and $47 the cost difference is not something I'd get too hung up with if you plan on using the product extensively. I'd focus on what works best for you. Charles Hefflin has provided a page on his website with links to both software programs and details about an offer he is extending to those who buy the software through him. Presently, if you purchase through his page, he is offering to provide you with Article Writing Secrets and, if you buy Directory Submitter, a $5 cash rebate. Details are on his Speed Up Your Directory Submissions webpage.

Although you may eventually want to outsource directory submissions, until you do I think using one of these programs makes a lot of sense. It really speeds up the process. Just with the demo version of Directory Submitter, I had installed the software, configured it, and submitted a site to about 20 directories in maybe 30 minutes. The actually submissions took less than 10 of those minutes, and most of that time was identifying the proper category on the directory and checking my e-mail for confirmations.

Even if you are outsourcing, I can see where this software may come handy as you may not want to outsource everything or you may want to supplment what was done by your directory submission service.

I hope some find this review helpful.

Unfortunately, for someone like me the difference between $97 and $47 is a lot!

I eventually decided to get SubmitEaze because of a) the price and b) the ability to add directories (although I've noticed with Directory Submitter that they pretty regularly add new ones); however, being able to add means I can choose to only add directories that allow free listings...

However, I think both will do the job well! I did find the interface of Directory Submitter to be a bit nicer, but I found a fault with the thing that tells you whether you've sent your submission or not (ie it will tell you that you've submitted to that directory, even if for whatever reason, the submission failed!) However, I also liked that you can change the color of the directories (for example, if there are some you don't want to submit to because they're country or category specific, for example)

Cheers

Yes, I agree. They both fit the bill quite well. There are some differences, one being the price. For those who are price sensitive, I think SubmitEaze is the way to go. However, Directory Submitter's tendancy to save a click here and there made the difference for me. Of course, if adding directories is important then the decision would have to tip to SubmitEaze.

ah this was the thread I read a few months ago, I'll post my findings if any people are interested. From what I can tell SubmitEaze have released a new version http://www.submiteaze.com/upgrade-20.html Seems to me that the new version of SubmitEaze wipes the floor with Directory Submitter, I wish I'd bought it when it was $47 and I'd have got the upgrade free, oh well, I'll get the next upgrades free instead Very Happy

P.S. I'm really liking this forum, I'm currently working my way through reading all the threads

So between Link Dir Submitter, SubmitEaze and Digixmas with one is better.

Well I can't speak for digixmas, but between directory submitter and submiteaze, I'd definitely go for submiteaze. I wouldn't use digixmas in the first place as I don't trust automated submissions to be able to accurately fill my information and select the appropriate category.

As it happens submiteaze have just announced the latest version http://www.submiteaze.com/upgrade-30.html

the directory detective tool looks very handy!
