I heard some people mention that if you host multiple websites on the same domain you run the risk of being de-listed by the search engines. Can anyone elaborate on this more.
I have seen a lot of people using sub-domains to create new websites under the same domain. Is this basically the same thing. Would I get de-listed if I did the following
red.colors.com
- different template
green.colours.com
- different template
as opposed to
colors.com/red/index.html
colors.com/green/index.html
Hmm maybe hosting sites under the same domain would not get delisted if they used the same template ?
Also if the sites were all related and linked up to the root domain from the start then maybe google would not delist them even with different templates ?
colors.com/index.html -> colors.com/red/index.html
-> colors.com/green/index.html |

I really doubt that you'd be delisted for using subdomains! I've never heard anything like this before to be honest!
After all, every blogger blog hosted by google is on a subdomain and they can't delist themselves can they??
The only way I can see it happening is if you've got subdomains that were created using "black hat" methods or something... If you got a subdomain banned, then I guess that would follow through to the main domain. But, with The Plan that's not going to happen!
Cheers

I have multiple websites on the same IP but it has never created a problem for me.
You will not get link value for your sites under same IP.

Wouldn't having multiple domains on 1 IP address also defeat the purpose of getting your sites listed high enough in th SERPS to get some coveted free advertising and clicks? Just a thought.
